The High School Library is open to
Students, Faculty, Staff and the Community.

Residents of the Chautauqua Lake Central School District are invited to use the High School Library on school days, 9 AM to 3 PM. Appointments are encouraged; call the Librarian at (716) 753-5831. Voice mail is on when the Librarian is away from the phone and also outside of school hours. Community use of the school library is available by permission of the Librarian, on a space-available basis. Priority must be given to student use. If large numbers of students arrive to use the library during an individual's appointment time, activity around the computer center may be distracting. Guests enter at the main (center) entrance to the school, sign in at the District Office, and obtain a Visitor's Pass before going to the library. They must contact the Librarian for computer passwords, as needed.

High School Library
Hours during School Year:
8 AM to 3 PM (Monday through Friday)

The Chautauqua Lake Central School Libraries service grades Pre-Kindergarten through 5 in the Elementary Library and Grades 6 -12 in the High School Library. The two libraries serve approximately 1,000 students, plus other patrons, with a combined collection of over 23,000 volumes incorporating 22,000 titles. In addition to the book resources the libraries provide their patrons with access to over 40 professional and student magazines in the elementary library and over 90 periodicals in the high school library. The secondary library also provides the students with access to 3 daily newspapers as well as the Sunday edition of the New York Times and the weekly Sentinel News.

The automated electronic catalog has resulted in these libraries being the first Level 3 (the highest level possible) Electronic Doorway Libraries in the Erie 2 Chautauqua Cattaraugus B.O.C.E.S. This recognition indicates that the users of these libraries not only have access to the Internet and the World Wide Web but that they share library catalogs around the world. A student or teacher at Chautauqua Lake can locate a book anywhere in the world and can request to borrow it through our school library at 100 N. Erie Street.

Through this web page students, teachers, and members of the community may view the Library Catalog on their home computers to check on the availability of a book and find links to reliable websites directly from the catalog.

We are also able to provide our patrons with on-line access to back files of magazines and newspapers using EBSCO Host Web, Health Resources using the Health References Center, Grolier and related encyclopedias, and a large number of other resources using the major database OCLC. Access these by clicking on the links at the right and supplying the appropriate passwords, which can be obtained in the High School Library.
