Chautauqua Lake Middle Grades

Message from the Middle Grades Principal, by John Panebianco
As we begin the new school year, I would like to take this time to emphasize all that Chautauqua Lake Middles Grades has to offer. All students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades have a number of activities in which they can choose to participate. As you travel through the middle school, take advantage of the music program, sports, and clubs. After school you may go to the supervised cafeteria to do homework, talk with friends, or just relax until 4 p.m.
There are many things you can do: join student council, raise money for those less fortunate, and join in or visit “An Evening With The Arts”. Watch or participate in various concerts and plays. Display your artwork locally or be a morning announcer on television. Enjoy what the agricultural room (Ag) has to offer with plant and animal life. Begin foreign language classes, learning French or Spanish, or pick an essay contest to show off your talent in writing.
These are just a few of the activities you can do at Chautauqua Lake Middle School in the 2007-2008 school year. You could also join in district events like the home coming parade and festivities, a run for charity and a district walk for health. If you enjoy activities in the winter you can join the ski club.
If you would like to learn more about these clubs and activities, watch for information in the district newsletter The Navigator, or call the Middle Grades office.
Sincerely,
John F. Panebianco
Middle Grades Principal
Director of Student Services.

Attendance
Parents and/or Guardians need to understand the importance of students being on time to school and in their first class of the day when the 7:55 AM bell rings. Please be aware that students are released from buses or waiting areas at 7:40 AM to go to their classroom and/or the cafeteria for breakfast. There is a warning bell at 7:52 AM, signifying that they have 3 minutes to get to their first period class. Students must be in their classroom at 7:55 AM or they are considered tardy.
Anyone who comes into class after that time should have an admittance slip from the Middle Grades office, where they are to sign in if arriving after 7:55 AM. Any student who signs in should have a written excuse from their parent indicating the reason for the tardiness.
