A Year of Renewal

The mission of Chautauqua Lake Central School District is to provide, in partnership with family and community, the educational opportunities for all students to achieve their highest potential in a safe, caring environment and prepare them to live, adjust and enjoy life in a changing world.

On one hand, the Chautauqua Lake Central School District is relatively new to the state of New York (with its merger only eleven years ago). On the other hand, we have a rich tradition of dedication to students, parents, and the community at large. As we move forward in our second decade, the district is committed to renewing its focus on the traditions it has established. As a manifestation of this commitment, the district has initiated several actions. We intend to ensure that we are addressing the needs of our consumers both today and tomorrow.

First, the district launched a strategic planning initiative this summer that was designed to involve multiple stakeholders in a process of reviewing, revising, and renewing goals for the next three to five years. As result, we have developed a set of goals that were presented to the Board of Education for approval at their meeting on Sept. 12, 2007.

A second action designed to renew our commitment to the principles of our mission statement is to advance our athletic program to the next level. With input of coaches through a Coaches’ Council, we have crafted an athletic philosophy and identified a theme for the year, Pursuing Victory with Honor. As the year progresses, we intend to focus on strategies that will enhance communication and improve overall program consistency. With our quality coaching staff dedicated to excellence, we believe we have great things ahead of us.

Finally, as we enter into the school year, we will use a holistic approach to solicit involvement and engage various stakeholders in renewing our daily, monthly, and yearly efforts. As appropriate, we will include teachers, parents, community members, administration, and even students in evaluating our school district needs and planning for related responses. Our actions here will center on endeavoring to foster and support community participation and commitment to our mission and our goals.

Chautauqua Lake Central School has a rich heritage of dedication to its students and its community. Its mission, goals, and priorities have all been directed towards meeting the needs of its stakeholders. With the new school year upon us, we are seeking to renew our commitment to Charting a course for the future.
