Good Afternoon,
As you know, the safety of our school community is always our top priority. With this in mind, we wanted to let you know that our district is aware of a generalized threat of violence circulating on TikTok towards school districts across the nation. To be extra cautious throughout yesterday and today, we have been in direct consultation with Undersheriff Richard Telford and the State Police. There have been no credible threats to our district yesterday or today. We did follow up on one situation but the State Police quickly declared it as a non-credible threat. Out of an abundance of caution, we have had police presence at school last evening and throughout the day today.
After consulting with Undersheriff Telford, we did not send out a parent/student notification last night as he believed it would be unwarranted and could have an adverse effect and increase the potential for something to happen. We did notify our staff of the concern and encouraged them to be extra vigilant and immediately report any/all inappropriate activity.
The strong relationships that we have established over the years with both the state police and sheriff’s department has helped us keep our school community safe. We continue to act under their advisement and will have a police presence to close out the school day and at our after-school activities. If you have any questions feel free to call my office at 753-5808. Thank you again for your support of our district and our students as we work collaboratively to keep your kids and our school family safe.
Respectfully,
Dr. Joshua Liddell
