The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) announced on July 7 that school districts are permitted to revise their masking policies for summer activities to align with previously released NYSDOH guidelines for daycare and summer camp programs.
Consistent with this NYSDOH guidance, and after conferring with our legal counsel, leadership team, safety team members and the board of education, the District will use the following mitigation strategies effective July 9, 2021:
- All students and visitors to the District's campus (including contractors) must sign in, complete the daily health screening questionnaire and have their temperatures checked with one of our screening devices. You may enter through the Elementary, Secondary or District entry locations.
- If an employee or student is not feeling well or exhibits any COVID-19 symptom(s), they are strongly encouraged to stay home and contact their medical provider. Anyone showing the signs of COVID-19 or who answers "yes" to one of the health screening questions cannot enter the building.
- Students will continue to physically distance in school buildings; different distances may be utilized in instructional areas based upon the number of students in the space.
- Mask wearing is encouraged but will no longer be required. If you would like to wear a mask, you may.
It is important to note that these changes are only in place for summer programs, and the District's policies are subject to change if New York State changes its requirements for schools.
Thank you again for your cooperation and flexibility. We hope you have a great summer and that everyone continues to stay safe and healthy.
