The Board of Education of the Chautauqua Lake Central School District currently has a vacancy. Zach Stahlsmith tendered his resignation effective June 1, 2024, due to a change in residency. The Board is looking to fill this vacancy by appointing someone qualified to serve on the Board of Education under the New York Education Law and Board Policy #1120. Qualified applicants seeking appointment to the Board of Education, for a term that will expire on the date of the District’s Annual Meeting / Vote in the spring of 2025, should submit a letter of interest to the District Clerk, Ms. Heidi Martin (hmartin@clake.org or 100 N. Erie Street, Mayville, New York 14757).
Interested applicants should express in their letters to the Board Clerk why they desire to serve on the Board of Education. Any letter of interest must be received by the District Clerk no later than 10:00 am on June 11, 2024.
Applicants for the vacant Board of Education seat who meet the minimum requirements for Board of Education service under the New York Education Law and the Board’s policies will then be provided an opportunity to address the Board for up to five (5) minutes each at the Board’s June 12, 2024 meeting (which is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm).
Thereafter, the Board intends to vote to fill the vacancy via a Board appointment, and the newly appointed Board of Education member will be required to attend New York State mandated Board of Education member training.
