Please see the information below in regards to the PowerSchool cybersecurity breach:
Dear Families & Staff,
This is an update to the previously shared information about the cybersecurity incident involving PowerSchool.
The breach involved unauthorized access to staff names and email addresses, as well as student and family contact information such as names, addresses, and phone numbers. Unfortunately, Chautauqua Lake was one of the numerous districts affected across the country. We want to clarify that Chautauqua Lake does not store social security numbers or financial information in PowerSchool, our district’s PowerSchool passwords were not compromised and this incident occurred solely on PowerSchool’s end and has not affected any other systems within our district.
PowerSchool is offering 2 years of complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services for affected staff and students.
- Identity Protection: PowerSchool will be offering two years of complimentary identity protection services for all students and educators whose information was involved.
- Credit Monitoring: PowerSchool will also be offering two years of complimentary credit monitoring services for all adult students and educators whose information was involved.
Experian (on behalf of PowerSchool) will be directly emailing affected staff and families with additional information and resources. Regardless of whether you receive the email or not, you can find enrollment, incident and FAQ resources at the following links:

If you have any questions or concerns regarding enrollment into these services, please call Experian at 833-918-9464. This offer expires May 30, 2025.
While this situation is concerning, we want to assure you that our district takes the protection of student and staff data very seriously. Please know that we are closely monitoring the situation. If we receive any further updates from PowerSchool, we will immediately share them with you. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to Taylor Meleen, Chautauqua Lake’s Director of Technology, at (716) 753-5820 or via email at tmeleen@clake.org.
