Good evening. This is Ben Spitzer. I hope this message finds you and your family doing well, as we all continue to try to manage the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. I wanted to provide you with a brief update on important school information.

First, we are continuing with our three plans for Child Nutrition, Child Care, and Continuity of Instruction. If you or someone you know is in need of meal delivery or child care, please visit our website for information to sign up for the program. These programs will continue through the end of June.

With respect to instruction, we announced that students attending Chautauqua Lake programs will have Monday, June 8th as their last day of instruction. Parents who have students attending a BOCES program, such as career and technical education or special education, will be notified by BOCES of their last day in that program. We ask that all of our students remain engaged through the last day of school.

On a final note, Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced that he will make a decision about Summer School by the end of May. As we look to the future, we must think about what a return to school buildings might look like and how best to support students, families and staff.

In order to begin that dialogue, Superintendents across the state have been asked to encourage stakeholders to participate in an online thought exchange. The exchange results will be shared with our elected officials so that they will have a more global understanding of the thoughts and ideas our community members have about returning to in-person schooling.

Please visit our Facebook page for more information on how to get involved.

Stay well.
