Mission:

Chautauqua Lake Central School, in partnership with family and community, will provide the educational opportunities for all students to achieve their highest potential in a safe, caring environment and prepare them to live, adjust and enjoy life in a changing world.

Our District:

Chautauqua Lake Central School District, in the southwestern corner of New York State, encompasses the village of Mayville and the communities of Chautauqua, Dewittville and Stow, as well as parts of Ashville and some outlying areas.  Mayville is the seat of government for Chautauqua County and the gateway to the outdoor recreation region of picturesque Chautauqua Lake.

It is the center of learning for over 900 students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, including 130 secondary school students from Ripley, who joined the “Chautauqua Lake Family” on a tuition basis starting in Fall 2013, allowing the district to preserve the critical educational experiences and courses needed for college and career readiness. This includes continuing electives, college credit-bearing courses, Advanced Placement courses and varied athletic and co-curricular opportunities for all students.

In addition to the tuitioning agreement with Ripley Central School District, Chautauqua Lake has a long history of other partnerships. This includes forming a consortium with neighboring districts Brocton, Ripley and Westfield to form ASSET (A Shared Services Education Team).  ASSET took a leadership role in advocating a new approach to consolidation through developing regional high school legislation.

In other regional partnerships, the district leases space to Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES for special education classes for students ages 5 to 21 from throughout the county, and to the Chautauqua Lake Child Care Center, an independent non-profit organization offering quality care for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers, as well as after-school and summer programs. Chautauqua County Mental Health also has a full-time, year-round office in our school building, providing services for children and families.

Our modern central school building opened in the year 2000. The central location and comfortable meeting rooms make our building an ideal location for county-wide meetings and programs. It is truly a place for kids to learn and a place to challenge ourselves to excellence.
