To report their child’s absence, parents are asked to call their student’s school office before 7:50 AM if possible to ensure the safety and well-being of their child.
Windstream customers may call at any hour, toll free, (716) 789-4195, and enter the last four digits of the appropriate number shown above.
The attendance clerks will call parents who do not call in.
Schools are required by law to obtain a written excuse from a parent or guardian for each case of absence or tardiness for their children. Even though you have called in, you must send a note when your child returns to school. The excuse must specify:
This excuse must be delivered to school office the day the student returns to school. If your student does not bring a legal written note, it is considered an unexcused absence.
Sample note:
DATE the excuse is written
To: TEACHER'S NAME (Pre-K-grade 6)
CHILD'S NAME was absent from school on DATES OF THE ABSENCE [or tardiness] because SPECIFIC REASON OR ILLNESS.
PARENT/GUARDIAN SIGNATURE
Students who arrive at their first class after 7:55 AM are tardy. Students who arrive after the start of the school day or who leave early must report immediately to their school office. To sign a student in or out, parents and students should enter and exit the school at the entrance closest to their child’s school office.
For everyone’s safety, every student must leave school at the end of each school day (3 PM), unless he or she is involved with a planned, supervised after-school activity, such as:
It is not appropriate for students to stay at school without such a planned, supervised activity, even if they plan to attend or participate in an athletic competition or other event later in the afternoon or evening.
