Coach Rowe, Coach Gibbs, Coach Fairbank, Coach Josyln and 8 CLCS wrestlers advanced to the state qualifier competition. At the Class C tournament, the Chautauqua Lake wrestling team finished 3rd behind Falconer and Newfane in the 18 team tournament.
Congratulations to Martin Ohlsson (99-pound tournament champion), Hunter Harris (120-pound tournament champion) and Brendon Ramsey (138-pound tournament champion) for winning their matches. Jordan Joslyn, Trent Burchanowski, Brendan Rowe and Zack Wolcott all finished third and Jack Bourgouis finished fifth. The eight wrestlers will be wrestling at the Sectional finals tournament at Southwestern. If they win their weight class, they will qualify for the NYSPHSAA State Wrestling Championship in Albany!
Chautauqua Lake swimmer Austin Strong also swam at the Sectional Swim Tournament at UB. He has qualified for five events in the sectional competition. He chose to compete in the 50 free, 200 free, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay.
Austin was also recently recognized as the Chautauqua County Sports Hall of Fame Bill Rollinger / Tony LaVoie Legacy Award (most outstanding male swimmer in Chautauqua County).
