Notice to District Residents

The Annual School Budget "Public Hearing" will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at 7pm in the Large Group Room, Chautauqua Lake Central School, 100 North Erie Street, Mayville, NY. At this time, the proposed budget for the 2020-2021 school year will be presented and reviewed. 

 

The "Annual District Meeting and Election" will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, in the Lobby at the Main Entrance, Chautauqua Lake Central School, 100 North Erie Street, Mayville, NY. Voting hours will be from 7am to 9pm. Voter parking spaces will be reserved in the parking area during the hours of the vote. 

 

At the election, district residents will be voting on the following items:

 

*Voting for School Board Members. Three "three-year term" board seats will be filled this year. The terms of Jay Baker, Travis Bensink and Mary Lee Talbot will expire June 30, 2020. Candidates must file a nominating petition, with signatures of at least 25 qualified district voters, with the District Clerk at least thirty (30) days prior to the election (i.e. the close of business on Friday, April 17, 2020). Board Candidate Petitions are available in the District Clerk's Office, 100 North Erie Street, Mayville, NY 14757.

 

*School Budget for the 2020-2021 School Year. District residents will also be voting on the operating budget of the school district for the 2020-2021 school year. Copies of the proposed budget will be available by May 5, 2020 in the District Office. 

 

*Facilities 2020 -- Capital Project. District residents will also be voting on a multi-year $15 million capital project. Copies of the proposed scope will be available May 5, 2020 in the District Office. There will be public meetings to review the proposed project, dates to be determined. 

 

To vote at the May 19th election you must be:

  • A citizen of the United States
  • (At lease) Eighteen (18) years of age
  • A resident within the school district for a period of at least thirty (30) days next preceding the day of the election
  • Reminder: At the polls, district voters must affirm residency. A photo identification, such as a driver's license, is preferred.
