We are looking forward to welcoming all of our students for their first day of school this coming Tuesday, September 7th! All Chautauqua County schools in our area have recently received a directive from the Chautauqua County Department of Health that addresses the recent NYS mandate requiring wearing masks in school buildings. Everyone at Chautauqua Lake will be required to wear masks inside the school building unless engaging in specific activities (e.g., eating lunch or snacks, drinking, singing, playing certain musical instruments, or outside activities). The County Department of Health states, if students are six feet apart, they can take mask breaks every hour for approximately 5 minutes. Even in the instances mentioned above, it is important to note that students can wear masks all the time if they choose. All Chautauqua County schools, including Chautauqua Lake, must comply with this requirement and adhere to Public Health Law. We will keep parents updated as we receive new information and put student safety at the forefront of our decisions.
