COVID 19 Rapid Test Kits Available
January 01, 2022

Dear Chautauqua Lake Family,

We recently became aware that Governor Hochul and State Health Commissioner, Dr. Mary Bassett identified a statewide goal of having as many students as possible tested for COVID as they return to school following our winter break. To accomplish this, the state has provided enough rapid testing kits for every single student in New York State. The Governor has asked school districts, with the assistance of BOCES, to be responsible for making these free kits available.  Receiving these testing kits is not mandatory and students are not required to test in order to attend school.

Today we were notified that kits will be delivered to Chautauqua Lake and other schools in the area tomorrow (Sunday) morning.  We have established the pick-up times depicted below for those who are interested in receiving a free COVID rapid test kit for their child(ren).  Kits will be distributed in the bus garage.  Please enter through the bus garage entrance (not the center campus entrance).

  • Sunday, January 2nd: 4:00 to 6:00 pm

  • Monday, January 3rd: 4:00 to 6:00 pm

  • Tuesday, January 4th: 4:00 to 6:00 pm

If you are not able to pick up the testing kit at school during the times noted above, please call your child's main office so that we can make alternate arrangements with you.  As a precautionary measure, we will not be sending kits home with students.  Any kits not picked-up will be utilized in our health office as needed.

If your child tests positive after using the rapid COVID test, they will not be permitted to attend school and parents should contact our school nurses, Michelle Holley (mholley@clake.org)  and Terry Smith (tsmith@clake.org) at (716) 753-5819.

Sincerely,

Joshua Liddell
