Thursday we sent 6 wrestlers-Trent Burchanowski, Jordan Joslyn, Mason Maring, Martin Ohlsson, Ison Shirley, and John Watson on their way to the NYSPHSAA Wrestling State Championship Tournament in Albany!
After the first day 5 advanced to compete on Saturday and on Saturday we had 2 wrestlers place, one a State Champion!
126-pound Junior, Jordan Joslyn beat Section IV Chenango Valley’s Trevor Cortright 2-0 in the 126-pound semifinals and went on to beat Tioga’s Gianni Silvestri 6-4 in the finals of the Division II bracket at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships at MVP Arena on Saturday night to become Chautauqua Lake’s first state champion since Bryce Rowe in 2008.

In addition Joslyn was recognized as the MOW - Most Outstanding Wrestler for Division 2.
Junior Ison Shirley’s ended with a 3-1 loss to Section IV Windsor’s Garrett Bidwell at 215 pounds.
Senior Martin Ohlsson ended with a 4-2 loss to Eagle Academy’s Cameron Mayfield in their 138-pound wrestleback.
Senior Trent Burchanowski ended with an 11-1 loss to Section II Greenville’s Kieran Cullen at 145 pounds.
At 152 pounds, Junior John Watson guaranteed himself a podium finish with a 7-4 defeat of Section V Palmyra-Macedon’s Gage Burgess, ultimately finishing in sixth place.
