The Chautauqua Lake Leadership Team and Reopening Committee have been working hard to develop our 2020 Reopening Plan and we wanted to provide everyone with an update. On Thursday, July 16, 2020, the New York State Education Department released its School Reopening Guidance. Click here for SED's press release. Embedded within the press release was the NYSED Recovering, Rebuilding, and Renewing: the Spirit of New York's Schools primary guidance document. You can view that document here.

Other guidance we have been using to develop our reopening plan:

Additionally supporting guidance from the CDC:

With regard to our Chautauqua Lake Reopening Plan & NYSED's most recent guidance:

As we continue to develop our Reopening Plan, we must ensure that the mandatory elements outlined in the NYSED guidance document and in the guidance released by the NYS Department of Health (DOH) are included. Our Chautauqua Lake Leadership Team and Chautauqua Lake Reopening Committee will continue to work together to develop three separate plans (as required by the NYSED). We are presently in the midst of creating comprehensive in-person, remote, and hybrid (combo of in-person and remote) instructional models. Our CLCS Leadership Team has divided out the sub-categories depicted within SED's guidance document and has been addressing the mandatory requirements, procedures, and varied nuances that align to an in-person, remote, and hybrid.

Once we finalize our Reopening Plans (due to SED by July 31) we will be posting the plan on our district website to be viewed by our students, parents and other community stakeholders. In addition, NYSED will be issuing a survey through their Monitoring and Vendor Reporting System to collect essential information about our Reopening Plan.

By July 31, 2020, we must complete the survey to provide NYSED with:

  • A link to our website where our school plan will be publicly posted
  • A set of mandatory assurances affirming that we will address, in our reopening plan, all of the mandatory elements and procedures outlines in the NYSED guidance document

If you have any recommendations and/or suggestions feel free to reach out to one of the leaders within the various Reopening Sub-categories or to one of the members within our CL Reopening Committee Key Component Areas (both depicted below with email contact information). We will be sending out a parent survey to address student transportation and technology access to help finalize our plans.

"I can say with confidence that over the last month our CL Leadership Team and Reopening Committee have been as proactive as possible to prepare for a variety of different reopening scenarios. I am extremely proud of the progress we have made and thankful to all our team members who have been putting in a tremendous amount of time and effort working towards getting our students back to school as safely as possible," said Dr. Joshua Liddell. "We will continue to work diligently and collaboratively on our plan and will keep you informed. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me directly. Stay strong, healthy, and positive Chautauqua Lake!"
