Being a Chautauqua Lake student-athlete goes far beyond the field of play. Strong in mind, body and spirit, our student-athletes are pushed to set ambitious goals and have fun while seeking them. Through hard work and tenacity, the Chautauqua Lake student-athlete is coached to come out on top – regardless of the final score.

The goal of the Chautauqua Lake athletic department is to provide the best opportunities for our student-athletes to excel in teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline and moral character while actively developing their athletic talents to the best of their abilities. An integral part of the total educational program, participation in athletics is a privilege and is not a right. Students who choose to participate in the Chautauqua Lake athletic program will be expected to conform to basic standards of conduct and to demonstrate a degree of self-discipline and self-sacrifice for the welfare of their team. Student-athletes will also be expected to demonstrate respect for the dignity and rights of others, good sportsmanship and respect for authority.

Interscholastic sports offer the student-athlete an opportunity to compete at the highest level, locally and state wide. Chautauqua Lake will attempt to provide as many levels of participation as is feasible given adequate facilities, staff and schedule. Our program is designed to allow for the student-athlete to participate at their level of readiness.

This process is best accomplished within a framework of fair play, cooperation, loyalty, pride and dedication. Students-athletes, coaches and parents are called upon to work together in a true spirit of sportsmanship to assist in creating an environment in which those values can be revealed, tested and proven relevant both to participants and the entire school community. High standards of sportsmanship must prevail at athletic competitions and all involved will pursue victory with honor.
