PBIS House System

At Chautauqua Lake Elementary, we are excited to continue building our School House System, a key part of our PBIS framework. You may have heard your child talking about their "house family" — and for good reason!

Our CLES House System was created to foster a positive, inclusive, and connected school culture where every student feels welcomed, supported, and valued. All students and staff are sorted into one of several "houses," which serve as extended school families. These houses include students from all grade levels, helping them form relationships beyond their immediate classroom and encouraging a stronger sense of community.

Our house system is designed to promote:

  • Camaraderie – Students build friendships, celebrate each other’s successes, and work together toward shared goals.
  • Engagement – Through fun challenges, spirit days, and team-building activities, students are encouraged to actively participate in school life.
  • Loyalty and Belonging – Belonging to a house fosters pride and connection, helping students see themselves as important members of the CLES family.
  • Supportive Relationships – Staff members and older students serve as mentors within their houses, offering guidance and encouragement throughout the year.

By celebrating positive behavior, encouraging collaboration, and embracing the unique strengths of every student, the CLCS House System plays an essential role in helping our school grow into an even more vibrant and compassionate community.

We are proud of the way our students have embraced this system, and we can’t wait to see how it continues to help them soar like Eagles!

PBIS how it works

Key Components of CLES Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports

  • All students k-6 are randomly sorted into one of 9 houses; house sorting happens at our Kick-Off event each September as students enter kindergarten. All pre-k students are in the rainbow house and staff are assigned to houses as well.
  • Students stay in their house for their entire elementary career.
  • Houses meet bi-weekly to engage in fun team building activities and compete to win various house challenges.
  • Houses also participate in school-wide assemblies and service projects, such as our annual Holiday Service Project with Mayville Food Pantry.
  • Students earn "house points" for demonstrating positive character traits. Points accumulate throughout the year and culminate in a final house challenge on field day. The winning house takes possession of the PBIS golden cup.
  • Members of our 5th & 6th Grade Student Administration routinely give their feedback and generate ideas.
